The Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the abolition of the Federal Tariff Service (FTS) and transfer of its functions to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
The corresponding information is contained in the statement on the website of the Head of the state. The document says that the merger of the structure is carried out so that “to improve public administration and control in the sphere of antitrust and tariff regulation, optimization of the federal executive bodies structure”. Igor Artemyev remains the Head of FAS. The Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev proposed to merge FTS and FAS at a meeting with the President of the RF on July 15. He noted that it would make it possible to optimize the work of the governmental bodies and to cut down on expenditures.
