Russia and the US launched visa-free travel for indigenous nations of Alaska and Chukotka.
Stays are limited to 90 days and you would also need to carry a special certificate confirming their ethnicity and send a notice to an authorized representative ten days ahead of the trip.
This is a rare development coming at a time of tension between the two powers dubbed as the worst geopolitical standoff since the end of the cold war.
Following the re-integration of Crimea by Russia in March 2014, the US and the EU introduced asset freezes and travel bans on a number of individuals and banned access to capital and technology for Russian firms.
