Russians Start Naming Children After Heroes of Game of Thrones

Experts believe that the world trend will continue to gain ground in the cities of Russia.

The Russians have supported the western trend of naming children after the characters of the cult cycle of George Martin’s fantasy novels The Song of Ice and Flame and The Game of Thrones TV series based on it.

Information obtained from the Russian registry offices testifies to it. Thus, there are already eight girls in the Moscow Region, and four girls in St. Petersburg named Aria. A boy in the Urals was named Theon last year, and there are Varys and Petyr registered in the Chelyabinsk Region. In the Moscow Registry Offices administration reports that among those who named their babies Arya there are Buryats, Iranians, Turks and Afghans.
