According to Reuters, China has appealed to the Russian Government to make YUKOS follow the agreements about oil supplies to Chinese People’s Republic.
“We hope that Russia, in particular the related governmental authorities, will be able to exhort YUKOS to fulfil it obligations under the contracts signed by it”, - said a representative of the MFA of China.
Let us recall, that the biggest Russian oil exporter notified on Monday about a 1 mln tons cut down of oil supplies from September, 28 till the end of 2004 caused by the lack of assets for paying out export duties.
At present YUKOS’ oil supplies to China amounts to 400,000 tons per month or 100,000 barrels per day.
Most experts regard the activities of YUKOS as an attempt to bring pressure on the authorities in the so-called “YUKOS case” under which the company has been claimed to pay the tax debts for 2000-2001 almost to the rate of $ 7,5 bln, while its assets and accounts have been attached.
