The largest Russian retail networks have fixed prices on 56 kinds of consumer goods, according to the data of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
Besides, FAS found it out that the retailers have established unequal rates in different regions. In addition, minimum and maximum prices for various products widely vary. A kilogram of beef in Moscow costs from 120 to 435 roubles, and a kilogram of potatoes costs from 18 to 130 roubles. The products in the list include beef, pork, chicken, Russian ravioli, butter, bread, salt, chocolate, cheese, pasta, coffee, apples and many other products. In addition to the food, the table included toilet paper, soap and toothpaste.
The decision on fixing the prices was taken by the Association of Retail Companies (including the largest retail networks in the country) in February. The agreement has been adopted by 12 networks, including “Magnit”, X5, “Dixie”, “Auchan”, “Lenta”, and “Zelgros”. The prices should be fixed for a basket of not less than 20 products, at that, the lists of these products are determined by each retailer on its own.
