The European Parliament adopted a resolution on promotion of energy security policy, safe and protected from external pressure, according to “Interfax”.
The document stresses that it is necessary to develop projects on construction of gas pipelines diversifying energy supplies of the EU countries.
According to MEPs, this should “help those Member States that currently have to rely on Russia as the sole supplier” of energy. The resolution notes that steady supplies of gas to Ukraine are very important for the energy security of the EU countries. The document proposes to “develop a program of cooperation with Ukraine and South Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and the Mediterranean region aimed at the development of infrastructure and interconnectivity between the EU and its European neighbors, regardless of Russian gas”. This issue will be coordinated by the European Energy Community.
