The Russian tourists visiting the Altai Mountains are encouraged to register for ensuring their own safety, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Altai.

      According to the report, the application for registration in the Altai search and rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia should be sent in advance. Along the route the tourists should possibly inform the duty officer of the Altai search and rescue team about their location from intermediate points, as “Interfax-Tourism” reports. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic also reminded to tourists that if the route is located 5 km from the state border of the Russian Federation (the territory of Ust-Koksinsky and Kosh-Agachsky districts), you must obtain a special permit, because these areas are neighboring Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia.
