10-year-old Semyon Shmatko has been awarded the Life Saving Medal by the RF EMERCOM. 

      The boy became the winner in the Heroic Children nomination at the regional stage of the festival Courage Constellation 2014. 

      On May 28 Semyon dived deep in the pool in a water park and noticed a teenager sitting at the bottom. When Semyon touched him, the boy fell down and then Semyon pulled the boy out of water. Thus Semyon Shmatko saved life to a 13-year-old teenager who had suffocated and sank down in water.

      Two weeks later the rescued teenager regained consciousness in hospital, and his relatives appealed to the Ministry of Emergency Situations to not disregard this serious act.
