Two museums with copies of well-known works of art might be founded in Belgorod.
Such an idea was suggested to the city mayor Sergey Bozhenov by the chairman of Cultural Heritage Foundation Victor Kartsev. According to its initiator, the project will help make world painting masterpieces come-at-able to a wide range of people. The museums will present replicas of artworks that are kept in various galleries and private collections around the world.
The pilot project has been tentatively titled The Small Hermitage. It is planned to start with copies of 20 world painting masterpieces and fill up the collection every year. Subsequently, The Small Tretyakov Gallery might appear in Belgorod: it will collect replicas of great paintings by Russian artists.
As the city administration press service reports, Victor Kartsev assumes that museums of the kind may appear in different cities of Russia, and Belgorod can be the first among them.
