A marble monument to a fallen meteorite has been set up in Chebarkul of the Chelyabinsk Region.

The 2 m large sculpture depicts a lake contour, with an opening symbolizing an ice-hole punched by the fallen meteorite. Inside of it there is a stone - certainly, neither the meteorite nor its splinter, but the volcanic rock of gabbro, which is very similar to the meteorite.

Above it there is a metal arch with an inscribed date of the bolide fall and the exact geographical coordinates - latitude and longitude - of its landing.

The author of the project is the local dweller Andrey Korenyugin.

It is a reminder that on February 15, 2013, a meteorite with the diameter of about 17 meters entered the terrestrial atmosphere, blew up at the height of 30 meters above land and broke up into a large number of fragments, most of which fell down in the area of the Chelyabinsk Region.
