A bridge with the lifts for pedestrians will be built across the river in Rostov-on-Don.

Voroshilovsky bridge is being reconstructed in Rostov-on-Don. The pits for a double bridge device are already prepared, the piles are being installed for the footing of the future pedestrian bridge. The reconstruction is carried out in two stages.

The double bridge is to be opened in the summer of 2015, and the reconstruction of the existing bridge is planned to be completed in the autumn of 2017. The implementation of the whole project will help to increase the number of traffic lanes from two to six, and the capacity to 65,000 vehicles per day.

The reconstruction project involves 4 lifts for pedestrians, including for physically challenged people. Those who wish will be able to go up in the lift from the city embankment, walk across the bridge and go down again in the lift on the left bank of the Don River. The implementation of this project will provide reliable communications of the centre of the million-plus city with the left bank of the river.  Three more crossing bridges are to be added to the existing four bridges of this kind in the medium term.
