Builders have demolished the main building of the Yakovlevs Estate constructed in the 19th century in Pyatnitskaya Street.
It has been reported in the press release of the public coalition In Defense of Old Moscow. The city defenders have already addressed the public prosecution office and the Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow with a request to check legality of the demolition. The coalition representatives claim that the building was arbitrarily demolished with two excavators, after it had been hidden behind dense construction grid.
The builder had a warrant for the estate restoration - in particular, repair of the facade and shoring of the foundation, Radio Kultura informs.
According to city defenders, this estate was a valuable city element. It was restored in 2010.
