Film director Andrey Khrzhanovsky is shooting a cinema about Joseph Brodsky in St.-Petersburg.
      
      Many people who knew the poet personally take part in creating the film. The film is being shot in real interiors, in the house where Brodsky lived. According to Andrey Khrzhanovsky this is not going to be a film on Brodsky's biography. The film is based on literary creations of Brodsky, as well as his drawings and biographical facts, but first of all the film director has been inspired by Brodsky’s prose.
      
      The film director does not want to try recreating the biography of the poet. It is going to be a sort of an ironic fairy tale proceeding from the fact that Brodsky was crazy about cats and associated himself with this animal. As cat was an alter ego for him, the filmmakers have arrived at the motif of Brodsky traveling with his cat, personifying his ‘inner self’. The travel is in the realm of reminiscences and fancies.
