Billionaire-turned-politician Mikhail Prokhorov will turn to Ilya Ponomarev’s minority group in the Russian parliament to advance his legislative drafts.
Outspoken opposition and human rights activist Ilya Ponomarev has announced his suspension of the membership in the Fair Russian party.
He went on record after the Fair Russia congress kicked Gennady Gudkov and his son, Dmitry, from the party over their role in 2011-2012 street protests.
At a Thursday press conference, Ilya Ponomarev said the parliament is seeing a formation of a monolithic ruling party, with Fair Russia ceding its independence, and along with some other deputies, he will work as part of the Alternative faction.
The founder of the Civic Platform, Mikhail Prokhorov welcomed the creation of an independent group and said he hoped to push his draft laws through it.
