Kaspersky Lab, Russia’s leading company in computer security, has uncovered a gigantic cyber-espionage network that targeted diplomatic and government agencies as well as energy businesses.

During an investigation into a series of high-profile internet attacks, its experts identified an intricate web of domains and servers that supported a world-wide data siphoning scheme, something they named the Red October.

Its smart Trojan modules had such a broad outreach that they could even steal data from your iPhone or copy erased files from your mobile drive.

Kaspersky Lab has not disclosed any information about the customer who initially requested the company to launch the probe.

More info on Kaspersky Lab's findings here.
