The Novgorod State Memorial Estate has opened for two months a unique monument of Russian wooden architecture – St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Church from the Nikolsky Krutetsky Monastery.
Restorers transported the St. Nicholas Church from Myakishevo Village of the Hvoyninsky District of the Veliky Novgorod Region to the Museum of Folk Wooden Architecture “Vitoslavlitsy” back in 1972 and assembled it in 1976. Since then the monument has been open for visitors only twice - for the period of exhibitions held there in 1978 and 1984.
This time the church will be housing an exhibition of photographic materials on the history and restoration of this church. The exhibition was opened on Friday and will run till July 31.
Afterwards the monument will be closed for visitors again.
