A local tractor driver found a unique Bronze Age figurine while ploughing the field.
The worker happened to come across the ancient artifact in the outskirts of Pokrovka Village of the Pavlovsk District about six years back. All this time the valuable find had been collecting dust in his house, until it fell into the hands of people, who are fond of archeology and so could assess the artifact. Now the find is kept in a private collection.
The sculpture depicts a naked anthropomorphous figure with a big egg-shaped head and big eyes. The head is adjoined by top extremities, and the low extremities are turned in. The piece reminds of the peculiar "classical" image of the alien as a humanoid.
As archeologists point out, the figurine represents a thinker and is hand-made of marl - a sedimentary rock. The figurine is dated to the 2.5-3 thousand years B.C. approximately. But it is hard to establish what culture it belongs to, even though a scaphoid axe was found next to the enigmatic figurine.
