Krasnodar Ecologists Are Under Threat of Imprisonment Fence of Governor Tkachev

The police in Tuapse town of Krasnodar Territory have officially recognized activists of the Ecological Watch across the North Caucasus - Suren Gazaryan and Evgeny Vitishko - suspects in the criminal case on damage of the fence round the summer residence of Kuban governor Alexander Tkachev.

Besides, policemen have informed ecologists that the criminal case on property damage is changed from the first to the second part of Article 167, which means they might be imprisoned for up to 5 years.

As Suren Gazarjan said, policemen came to his home to take him to the police department for interrogation as a witness. After he refused to go to the police due to absence of grounds for reconduction, they established watch on his home till next morning.

Such special attention of the police once again confirms the fact that the main aim of excitation of the criminal case is an attempt to intimidate citizens revolted by the cynical capture of woods and coast of the Black Sea for building of residences of the higher Russian officials.

It is a reminder that on November, 13th last year ecologists carried out public inspection of the wood adjoining the ground plot owned by Alexander Tkachev. In order to carry out the inspection ecologists had to dismantle a part of the fence, which had been illegally constructed around the residence in the zone of the state wood foundation.
