Polumgla /Semi-Mist, Artem Antonov’s feature has been awarded with Iris of Tomorrow prize for the best debut at the cinema festival The New Montreal Film Fest held in Montreal for the first time this year.
Polumgla is the first full-length feature film by this film producer. It is a parable movie about German prisoners of war building a radio tower in a godforsaken village Polumgla in Arkhangelsk region. The festival jury claims that the film is awarded for its authors’ sense of occasion and the efficiency in conveying the cruelties of war without sliding into pathos or slander.
The Russian premiere took place at the Window on Europe festival in August 2005 in the city of Vyborg. The movie was awarded there for the debut also.
