Moscow, growing south-west, will reach a border of Kaluga region. This may attract investors to the airport Ermolino, which is located some kilometers away from the bigger capital and just 61 km from the airport Vnukovo.
The Ministry of Transport suggests it as an airport for low-cost airlines. The airline UTair shows its interests in the airport. Foreign airlines may also use the airport to provide services to the international companies working in Kaluga region.
For the last few years Volkswagen, Samsung, Volvo, Nestle and other international companies have launched its production in Kaluga region.
