The authoroties of Chelyabinsk will give 100,000 roubles for each family of the hockey players from Chelyabinsk region, who died in the Yak-42 plane crash on Wednesday, according to the press service of the Chelyabinsk's mayor Mikhail Yurevuch.
"The mayor and the region's government express their heartfelt condolences to families, friends, colleagues and supporters of the ice hockey team "Lokomotiv Yaroslavl". In this terrible tragedy the Chelyabinsk region has lost three our citizens - Alexander Kalyadin, Gennady Churilov and an air hostess Nadezhda Maksumova."
To remind, at least 43 people died on Wednesday afternoon when a plane carrying the "Lokomotiv Yaroslavl" ice hockey team crashed during take-off. Only two people survived the crash - Russian player Alexander Galimov and one of the eight crew members on board, Alexander Sizov. Both are in critical condition. Galimov has burns to 90 percent of his body.
Today Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in the city of Yaroslavl on the Volga River. He was due to address an economic forum in the city but altered his schedule to visit the crash site. The president is going to hold meetings with the heads of the Emergencies Ministry, Transport Ministry, Investigative Committee and presidential administration
By that hour, rescue workers have recovered the bodies of all 43 people killed in the plane crash. An emergency official said the recovered bodies were being identified.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, with the Russian Transport Ministry suggesting it might have been a technical malfunction or human error.
All Yak-42s are grounded until the terminal decision about causes of the plane crash. "Rosaviatsia is carrying out an investigation and considering whether to ban the plane from flying," the Russian Transport Mininstry's deputy head, Valery Okulov, told reporters on Thursday.
