The third Global Policy Forum opens in Yaroslavl today under the patronage of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
Many analysts are speculating that Medvedev will use that Forum to announce his decision as to whether he will run in the 2012 presidential elections, so this year the Forum sparks a lot of media attention.
The main participants of the Forum are going to focus on the question of "the modern state in the age of social diversity". It is also planned to hold the global East-West debate within the Forum and to discuss cross-cultural relations and ethnic violence. which remains one of the most important problems for the global society.
Public leaders and business representatives from 32 countries will be discussing economic inequality in the context of the political and economic realities of Russia.
Yaroslavl are expecting to receive such guests as Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodrigues Zapatero, French Prime Minister Francois Fillon, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Besides, it is planned to receive many Russian and foreign political scientists and philosophers who will speak on the prospect of the development of the modern society.
