Beeline, RURU and Unistream to Offer Mobile Money Transfers

RURU, the webpayment system, and Unistream, the international network of funds transfers, have partnered with Beeline, Russia's leading mobile phone provider, to facilitate money transfers for the citizens of Russia, Georgia, and the CIS countries.

If you are a Beeline network user, you can now arrange a money transfer straight from your user account on the web, or directly from your mobile phone via a special application. The app is available for Android and iOS smartphones.

The process is very similar to the one Western Union has been using for years. When you arrange a payment, you need to include the amount of transfer, the names of sender and of recipient, and the destination country. You can confirm the transfer via SMS. The one-time transfer cannot exceed 14K RUB. The commission for money transfers is 5.95 per cent.

The transferred funds can be received at any Unistream point in the CIS and Georgia. When receiving money, you need to list the amount expected, the unique reference number that was sent to your mobile phone, the sender and recipient details, and to produce an identity verification (passport).

Considering how many people have for years been coming from the CIS and Georgia to Russia for work, this is a smart move. There can hardly be anything easier than arranging the transfer from the mobile phone, instead of going online or to the bank.
