Aeroflot air company has changed name of Kaliningrad city into Königsberg on regular flight 755/756 Moscow-Kaliningrad-Moscow on its own initiative. The city was called Königsberg before its annexation in 1946.
Now this city name, Königsberg is to be heard in the pilot's in-flight and flight announcements in English. When such innovation came into force and whom belongs such idea is yet unknown. It is not also clear how it corresponds with corporate policy of Aeroflot, Russian national air carrier and public policy of Russian Federation in the area of toponymy.
At the air carrier's web-site the city is still called Kaliningrad.
More about Kaliningrad, (Königsberg till 1946) where great Greman philosopher Immanuel Kant had lived his whole life without leaving it.
