Monument to the Tatar poet Ğabdulla Tuqay has been set up in the center of Moscow.
It stands in a public garden at the crossroads of Novokuznetskaya Street and Maly Tatarsky Lane, nearby the Tatar Cultural Center.
The monument depicts the poet as a young man wearing a European suit and sitting on a bench. The unveiling of the monument is timed to the 125th anniversary of the classic of Tatar poetry.
Ğabdulla Tuqay was an outstanding national Tatar poet, literary critic, publicist and translator. The poet advocated unification of the peoples of Russia in the days of massive migration of Tatars to Turkey.
