Bean Goose Red-Listed in Novosibirsk Region

All subspecies of the bean goose have been entered into the Red Book of the Novosibirsk Region.
      
      Until March this year only wood subspecies of the bean goose was red-listed due to its number cut down by 50 per cent in Novosibirsk Region in the last decade.
      Along with that two more subspecies - tundra bean goose and taiga bean goose - are found in the region in migration periods.
      
      During the new listing of rare birds of Russia numerous experts pointed out critical situation with the bean goose. Therefore wood bean goose (Anser fabalis fabalis) and Siberian taiga bean goose (Anser fabalis middendorffi) have been registered on the prepared project of the list of birds to be included into the Red Book of Russia.
