Monument to the dog named Zvezdochka, the last test pilot of the Vostok ship before Yury Gagarin's flight, will be opened in Tchaikovsk District of the Perm Territory today.
The last check experiment before man’s flight to the outer space was performed on March, 25th, 1961. The Vostok spaceship with Zvezdochka and a dummy of a cosmonaut named Ivan Ivanovich made one turn round the Earth and safely returned: Zvezdochka landed in a descent vehicle and Ivan Ivanovich catapulted.
In 1986 an obelisk was set up at the landing place in Karsha Village, and now there will be a monument of black stone with the face of a dog-cosmonaut engraved in it.
