The house in the center of Kursk, where the artist Kazimir Malevich lived, risks to be taken down, since the city administration intends to give it away for offices.
As the head of the art gallery À-ß Oleg Radin reports, cultural figures of the Kursk Region have addressed the international Malevich Foundation with the request to rescue the old two-storeyed Malevich house in Kursk from demolition.
“The house is old and two-storeyed and occupies a very favourable place for business dealing. So, it is a tidbit for many. However, even if it is not taken down, with such an attitude as presently, it will soon collapse itself”, Oleg Radin said. All the glasses and lots of doors in the house have been broken, and homeless people live inside.
At the same time, the administration of the Kursk Region denied the information on the supposed pulling down of the house.
The press-service of administration informed that Malevich House would be restored, transferred to the non-residential category and given for offices. According to the press-service, it “will promote preservation of the monument of architecture, its restoration and maintenance in proper condition”.
