Barsova Mountain in Surgut (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area) has become the winner of the international competition Seven Wonders of the Finno-Ugric World.
Russia, Hungary, Finland and Estonia participated in the project. Open popular vote was held on the Internet.
The unique archaeological monument Barsova Mountain is an elevation stretching 8.5 kilometers to 2 kilometers on the right bank of Ob River. Scientists assume that the first people appeared there over 7 thousand years ago and densely occupied this area. For Bronze and Iron Ages the Barsovo was a large megacity – traces of about 50 settlements have remained since then.
