A number of public patriotic organizations want to establish a monument to Patriarch Hermogenes in Red Square.
However, experts doubt that a monument to such an ambiguous character of Russian history can decorate the country’s main square.
The initiators of setting up the monument are representatives of Russian Orthodox Church, the regional public movement National Council. In November last year Patriarch Cyril of Moscow and all Russia gave blessings for installation of the monument.
Now the project is prepared for consideration at the commission in the Moscow City Duma. The initiators plan to involve Alexander Rukavishnikov as the sculptor of this monument.
