Ministry of Agriculture and Food Production of Tatarstan Republic should stop tests on gamma irradiation of grains on the republic’s fields.
      
      This has been stated by Tatarstan branch of the Social-Ecological Union.
      "Moratorium should be imposed on field tests of the technology of irradiation of seeds and agricultural products. This technology has proved neither its efficiency, nor safety", - concluded the Round Table on problems of gamma irradiation of seeds of agricultural crops and agricultural products that took place in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Production on March, 25th.
      
      According to different data, last year about 164 tons of sowing seeds (wheat, barley, corn, and potato) were irradiated and around 659 hectares were sowed with irradiated seeds.
