The State Office of Public Prosecutor of Russia has admitted the fact that it is poor road condition that is one of the major causes for road accidents.
      
      This factor is not of the least importance in the rating of road failures.
      
      The statistics of road and transport incidents testifies that every fifth road accident occurs because of an unsatisfactory condition of streets and roads. As check-up revealed, the infringements mostly consist in the lack of control over maintenance of safety of highways, unsatisfactory condition of the street and road system and few actions undertaken for maintenance and repair of roads.
      
      Most often accidents due to poor road condition occur in the Chuvash Republic, Krasnoyarsk Region, the Amur Region, Kaluga Region, Moscow Region, Tula Region, Ulyanovsk Region and Moscow.
