German Company to Build Nuclear Waste Utilization Centre in Russia

German company Energiewerke Nord which is engaged in utilization of nuclear wastes intends to sign a large-scale contract with Russia.
      
      As DW-world informs, the firm located in the town of Lumbin, received an order on building a centre for utilization of nuclear wastes from a branch of Russian state concern Atomenergoprom.
      
      EWN representative Marlies Philipp has confirmed the information about negotiations. According to her, the order was received at the end of the past year, and now experts are intensively working on the plan of the project realization.
      
      It is a question of building a large nuclear waste utilization center per sample of the EWN enterprise in Lumbin, Ostsee-Zeitung newspaper reports.
      
      Russian customers emphasized that the object is not planned to be used for storage of radioactive materials. The center planned to be located in the European part of Russia, will be intended for recycling of fuel uranium rods. Among the possible places for the centre Smolensk, St. Petersburg and Kursk are mentioned.
