Russian scientists have developed a new ecologically safe material for bags, which gets degraded in soils within two weeks.
Polyethylene, widely used for various kinds of bags, heeds about 10 years to get degraded. Know-how of the Russian researchers from Stavropol consists of methyl cellulose and protein complexes.
New biodegradable material has the same strength as polyethylene, and is able to preserve food longer, because it’s not transparent for UV radiation. New material can be used in everyday life, in medicine, in beauty industry, and in food industry.
Further commercialization of the product requires investments of about 4-5 million rubles.
