Russian scientists have finally chosen sites for landing of modules of future lunar automatic stations “Luna- Resource” and “Luna-Globe”.
Researchers have had a choice of 14 sites, where water ice presence was expected, and they have selected 5 less dangerous sites, from which selection of the 2 almost non-dangerous sites was finally made.
Lunar research station “Luna-Globe” is expected to deliver a landing platform to a site near one of the Moon’s poles, where water ice has been detected. The probe will carry a boring facility in order to study rocks at this site.
As for “Luna-Resource”, it is a joint mission of Russian and Indian scientists, aimed at collecting samples of moon rock and soil and deliver them to our planet.
