This night was a sad night – famous Russian politician Victor Chernomyrdin, who was 72, has passed away.
Victor Chernomyrdin, born in Orsk, Orenburg region, was the head of the Russian government between 1992 and 1998. The politician has even been the Acting President of the Russian Federation for six hours on November 6, 1996, when Boris Yeltsin has been in hospital for surgery.
In 2001 Victor Chernomyrdin was appointed as the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Ukraine and was relieved from this post by Dmitry Medvedev, current Russian President, in 2009. After that, Victor Chernomyrdin was employed as a presidential adviser.
Mass media list a chronic disease as a possible reason for Victor Chernomyrdin’s death.
