Russians still believe in the greenback, as indicated in the recent polls held by ROMIR Monitoring. 59% of respondents give preference to the US currency, while the rest 40% seems to split evenly into euro- and rouble-fans, with the euro just a bit ahead. Many untaxed operations are still conducted with dollars, people often think in terms of this currency for convenience when considering a purchase of a car or a flat or even their salary or fees.
