1896—Faina Ranevskaya, famous Russian actress, is born.
For her outstanding roles in Podkidysh (the Foundling), Mechta (the Dream), Svadba (the Wedding), and other films she is awarded the title of People’s artist of the USSR. She is also well-known for her not-trivial personality and way of life. “One could play cards, but one should live on the stage”, she used to say.

1878—Pyotr Vrangel, the general of White Army, is born.
Vrangel was an officer in the Imperial Russian Army and later became the leader of anti-Bolshevik White Army during the Civil War (1917-1923.)
