22 August — Day of Russian National Flag



In 1991 white-blue-red tricolour became one of the symbols of struggle against the coup. Defenders of the White House fought under this flag, and later it became the State Flag of Russian Federation. Unofficial interpretation of the colours: white is for peace and purity; blue for fidelity; red for power and blood shed for the Motherland.

This holiday appeared only in 1994,but the flag itself has a very long history.The symbolism of the flag's colours were born among Russian people.White colour symbolies peace and purity,blue colour stayes for faith and truth,red one is a symbol of energy and power.
