1939—New medal appears in USSR
New kind of medal was passed by the government,which was called "Golden Star",and was to be given only to the Heroes of the Soviet Union.

1858—Ivan Ostroukhov, painter-peredwizhnik, is born
He is also famous as collector and patron of art, as he curated the State Tretyakov gallery after death of its founder Pavel Tretyakov.
