1645—Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich comes to the throne.
During the reign of Aleksey Mikhailovich the central authority becomes stronger and the serfdom forms (Sobornoye Ulozhenie (Code of Law), 1649). Ukraine re-unites with Russia (1654); Smolensk, Severia and other territories are returned; uprisings in Moscow, Novgorod, Pskov (1648, 1650, 1662) and Krest’anskaya war (Peasant war) of 1670-71are put down.
