1826The Decembrists are executed. Five leaders of the Decembrist revolt P. Pestel, K. Ryleyev, S. Muravyov-Apostol, M. Bestuzhev-Ryumin and P. Kakhovsky are hanged. These men headed first revolutionary movement against tzarism in the era of autocracy and entered the Senatskaya Square of Saint Petersburg with unrolled war banners December 14, 1825. ![]()
