1872—Nikolay Koltsov, biologist, is born.
Nikolay Koltsov is the founder of Russian Experimental Biology. He is the first director of the Institute of Experimental Biology. He is the first to develop a hypothesis of molecular texture and matrix reproduction of chromosomes (“inherited molecules”) in 1928, thus anticipating the principles of modern molecular biology and genetics.
