1916—Alexander Prokhorov, physicist, is born.
Alexander Prokhorov is the inventor of laser, and one of the founders of quantum physics. In 1964 he along with Nikolay Basov and Charles Townes receive the Nobel Prize in Physics “for fundamental work in the field of quantum electronics, which has led to the construction of oscillators and amplifiers based on the maser-laser principle”.
