1889—Anna Akhmatova, poetess, is born.
Anna Akhmatova is considered the soul of the Silver Age (of Russian poetry), her poems are compared to those by Sappho and Mozart’s music. The Akhmatova museum was opened in 1989 to celebrate the poetess’s 100th birthday in the Fountain Court in the centre of St. Petersburg.
