1955—The Baykonur cosmodrome is put in action.
The first-ever artificial satellite is launched from Baykonur (1957), as well as the first spacecraft carrying a man on board (cosmonaut Yury Gagarin, in 1961). Spacecrafts “Vostok”, “Voskhod”, “Soyuz”, orbital stations “Salyut” and “Mir”, and space systems “Energiya” and “Buran”, many artificial satellities and interplanetary spacecrafts.
