2007Mstislav Rostropovich, a great Russian cellist and conductor, dies in Moscow at the age of 80 Rostropovich, also known as Slava, died after a long operation in a hospital of Moscow. Rostropovich is acknowledged to be the best musician of our time; his name is among the “forty immortal people” – honorary members of the Art Academy of France.
