1886—Vladimir Favorsky, painter, is born.
Favorsky is not only a painter and engraver, but also an art theorist. His main idea is that book illustrations are not just a supplement to the book, but a part of it. In 1962 he receives Lenin prize for a cycle of illustrations to Pushkin’s “Small Tragedies”.
