Dates in History
1728—Peter III, Russian Emperor (January–July 1762), is born.
He becomes Emperor after Elizabeth I dies, but as a result of his wife’s conspiracy (future Russian Empress Yekaterina II) he is imprisoned in Ropsha. In a few days following the arrest Peter III dies. Some say that he is killed in a drunken brawl by one of the guards, but the true story of his death remains unknown.
