1722—Peter the Great issues a decree concerning inheritance to the throne.
This decree abolishes the tradition according to which the oldest son automatically becomes Heir to the Throne. The decree declares that it all depends upon Tzar’s wish, who can change his decision if he doesn’t find the chosen one worthy of inheriting the throne.
